School Site Council

Our School Site Council (SSC) is a group of students, parents, teachers, out-of-classroom staff, and the principal, who decide how the school's Title 1 funding is spent through the writing and approval of the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Each member of SSC (except for the principal) is elected by its stakeholder members for a two-year term. Parents who are interested in becoming a School Site Council member are encouraged to call the office or send an email to the school's principal, Mr. Sanchez [email protected]

The Kennedy Middle School staff makes an initial prediction of vacancies it will have for its School Site Council (SSC) and our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) at the last meeting of each academic year.  Upon registering all students in the Fall, vacancies are confirmed based on student enrollment. If all returning members have students registered, the initial number of vacancies is sought to be filled. However, if an SSC/ELAC member was scheduled to return the following year, but no longer has a student enrolled, additional vacancies are posted.

All parents are informed of the opportunities to participate during our annual Back To School event. After nominations have been collected, ballots are created and distributed during Parent Conference Week. There will be a limit of one ballot per household.

Parents are allowed one week to turn in votes to be counted.   Once the ballots are counted the new members are notified and invited to the meetings scheduled for the year.

Kennedy Middle School strives to maximize the validity and credibility of the election process and ensure that all vacancies are filled by November 1 of each year.
